PE - 3 Year The whales and dolphins in Madeira Children can experience the dissolution of various elements in water or learn to differentiate dolphins and whales from fishes.
PE - 4 Year Hum... lunch time! Students will learn how cetaceans feed and the concept of ecosystem throughout the class.
PE - 5 Year Where do animals live? Students have the opportunity to understand how to interconnect the trophic chains by making an approach to food chains.
1º Year What’s my name? Children can apply their knowledge on the habitats of different animals by participating in games appropriate to the subject.
2º Year Terrestrial, aquatic and aerial animals By playing games, students can distinguish between various animals according to the environment where they live.
3º Year Mammals and fishes – What are the differences? The distinction between fish and dolphins will be made through a self-sustainable approach.
4º Year Can you breath like a cetacean? Students will learn how cetaceans breathe and the concept of ecosystem throughout the class.
5º Year Whales and dolphins how are they classified? In a simple and playful way cetaceans’ classification will be addressed.
6º Year Cetaceans’ digestive system The digestive system of cetaceans, as marine mammals, is mentioned. Activity complemented with the dissection of a fish.
7º Year Sea bed morphology and cetaceans distribution The way on how the seabed can influence species distribution is analysed.
Activity complemented with the dissection of a squid.
8º Year Marine ecosystem – how to study it? The scientific study of cetaceans in Madeira, as part of the ecosystem
9º Year Cetaceans – mammals like us! The various body systems of cetaceans, and its comparison to those of mammals.
10º Year Adaptations to the marine environment To inhabit the sea cetaceans have several adaptations that are addressed in this activity.
11º Year Cetaceans evolution The evolutionary process of cetaceans
12º Year Cetaceans – how to study them? Some scientific research techniques developed at the institution are explored.
